The United States alone spent more than all other nuclear-armed states combined: $56.8 billion. The nuclear weapons industry earned at least $42.5 billion and spent $128 million on lobbying to protect their profits. What could that money have done instead? It could have provided millions of meals, homes, and life-saving healthcare. It could have funded solutions to the climate crisis. #NuclearBan #Divestment #GlobalSecurity #EthicalInvesting

Today, 66 years ago, France carried out Blue Gerboise, the first of many nuclear tests in Algeria. Decades later, radioactive waste still threatens communities and the enviroment because as a matter of fact France has had a policy of burying all waste in the sands or disposing of it in the ocean. Nuclear disarmament must include nuclear justice and that’s why the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons matters.
